Juggling running the farm, looking after all the animals, keeping the farm shop stocked and attending farmers’ markets brings many challenges – some of which are understanding and complying with the myriad of requirements from various legislative authorities – Environmental Health, the Environment Agency, Trading Standards, Catchment Sensitive Farming and Defra to name a few. It takes a lot of time and effort to ensure that everything is in order so when we get a visit or inspection and get told that we are doing it right, brings a huge sense of relief! Just last week, we were awarded a 5 Food Hygiene Rating for the farm shop and coffee shop which we are now proudly displaying in our window.

Coffee With The Cows & Farm Walks We are planning to do some more events in the not-too-distant future. We are hoping to bring you Coffee With the Cows In the Fields at some point – it was such a shame that the weather was not favourable when we last tried to organise it. We are also planning some guided farm walks – I will endeavour to post some dates as soon as possible – the farm walks will be while the shop is open on a Saturday or Sunday. Watch this space and our social media.

Farm Shop News This weekend, we have our fresh Pasture For Life certified beef, our slow-grown, pasture-raised, soy-free chicken, plus grass-fed lamb from Emily, a 21-year-old, first-generation farmer. Her small flock of sheep are mob-grazed regeneratively around Sussex, making them 100% grass fed with minimal human intervention. This allows them to live as natural and stress-free a life as possible.

Pork, curries, pasties and pies are available from the freezer. We also have a new product – beef bourguignon – made for us with our beef by Ralph, who makes our pies and pasties. It’s super tasty.

Father’s Day Don’t forget that it’s Father’s Day this Sunday, 21st June. We have plenty of special steaks, including tomahawks, wing ribs and ribs on the bone – come and grab something on Friday afternon or Saturday as the annual London to Brighton bike ride is going ahead on the Sunday and some of the roads around us will be closed that morning. We will be open on the Sunday and if you are aiming to get to us, you may need to plan your route! Access from Bletchingly or Lingfield direction will be fine but if you are coming from the Redhill or Horley direction, it may be a little trickier, but not impossible.

Hope to see you soon,

Penny
